Madonna has filed an appeal in Malawi's High Court, challenging a judge's ruling that prevents her from adopting a second child from the African country.

The singer was denied her request for an interim adoption of 4-year-old Mercy James on Friday, five days after making her application official.

The attempt was reportedly rejected because of a requirement that prospective parents be resident in the country for 18 to 24 months prior to an adoption.

But the 50-year-old is determined to fight the ruling and lodged an appeal in the capital city of Lilongwe, just hours after her application was turned down.

Madonna's lawyer Alan Chinula says, "I just filed the notice of appeal this afternoon on instructions from my client."

The star's bid to add James, whose 18-year-old mother died days after childbirth, to her family and take her to the U.S. has not been without controversy -- the move was met with hostility from human rights groups, who insisted the tot should remain in her homeland.

The hitmaker adopted her son David Banda, 3, from the country in 2006 but the arrangement was not finalized until 2008, following two years of legal wrangling.

She also has an 8-year-old son, Rocco, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, and a 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship.

Singer Natalie Cole has been inundated with offers of kidneys from fans after she revealed on American television that she needed a transplant.

The daughter of Nat King Cole told Larry King she was facing a lifetime of dialysis after both her kidneys failed following treatment for hepatitis C.

While still live on air, King was able to present Cole with a pile of emails from viewers offering their own organs.

Cole, appearing stunned, said: "There are some great human beings out there."

Aggressive treatment

The 59-year-old singer was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 2008. At the time, she said she was ready to "meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination".

Cole attributes her hepatitis C to years of drug use. The performer was addicted to heroin, LSD and cocaine before going into rehab in 1984. Sharing needles is one of the ways the disease can be passed on.

The singer underwent an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy and weeks afterwards she said: "I couldn't breathe. Literally, my kidneys stopped functioning.

"They stopped processing the fluid that was starting to build up in my body."

The singer told Larry King "dialysis is keeping me alive". She makes three trips a week for three-and-a-half hour treatments to clean her blood.

'Amazing' offers

King handed her a sheaf of papers saying: "These are all e-mails from dozens of people offering to be tested to see if they can match, who want to give you a kidney.

The overwhelmed singer called the offers "amazing" saying: "I always felt that it was just so strange to solicit to strangers for a kidney.

"But people are really great. There are some great human beings out there. That's all I can say" she added.

Attempts to find a donor match within her family have been unsuccessful.

The singer is determined to keep touring despite her illness. She collected two Grammy awards this year giving her a career total of ten wins.

She said on the Larry King show that if a living donor was found, she would try and delay the operation until the end of the year because of current work commitments.

"It is not a life and death situation," she claimed.

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship has hit rock bottom after an explosive row, reports the Daily Mail online.An exhausted Jolie reportedly returned home after a long day filming her new movie Salt to find Pitt relaxing with beer and DVD in their bedroom while their six children caused chaos downstairs.

Pitt’s behaviour is said to have triggered the argument between the couple, with friends worrying for their future together.
Sources close to the couple say they had their biggest row yet when Angelina found Pitt dozing while nannies struggled to care for their large brood.

“Angelina was completely and utterly exhausted, so when she came home after a hard day’s work and found Brad had apparently done nothing all day except watch DVDs, she was livid,” said a friend of the actress.

“She went upstairs and shook Brad awake. He was like a bear with a sore head and kept telling her to leave him alone,” the friend added.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor will sport a dress worth Rs 800,000 for a song in “Kambakkht Ishq”. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had specially ordered it for the actress from Paris.

“When the song was completed and the whole crew had a look, it looked very beautiful and eye catching. But most importantly everyone’s eyes were stuck at seeing Kareena’s dress. Kareena was looking gorgeous. The dress cost Rs 800,000,” said a source close to the producer.

The filmmaker has also gifted the dress to Kareena as she looked really pretty wearing it.
“Sajid Nadiadwala is a wonderful person at heart. He always makes sure that his cast and crew is happy. Kareena was happy after receiving such an extra-ordinary gift from Sajid bhai. She was short of words to express her feeling after she received the gift.” added the source.

Amidst the fashion razzmatazz that’s been gripping tinsel town lately, Katrina Kaif took some time out from her busy schedule to be with slum kids of Dharavi. Dressed casually in jeans and T-shirt, the actress mingled with these children at Nature’s Park in Dharavi, Mumbai. She was there on behalf of ‘Being Human’ organization which is an initiative of Salman Khan Foundation.

This particular organization works for the underprivileged kids who dwell in slums. Katrina being a representative of ‘Being Human’ wore the T-shirt of the same name. At a time when media is speculating about the trouble in the Sallu-Kat paradise, such a gesture by the kind-hearted Katrina must have zipped up many mouths.
The absence of Salman, however, was something unexpected. Nevertheless, the charming Katrina made Sunday morning for the kids a day to remember as she met and talked to them personally. Children, too, were happy after seeing their favourite actress and they even got her autograph.

Dharavi is not only India’s but also Asia’s largest slum and ‘Being Human’ NGO sponsored by Salman Khan Foundation tries to do its bit by helping the downtrodden in this particular area.

Kat and Salman may have ups and downs in their relationship, but they definitely complement each other. And Katrina’s presence at Dharavi showed that she is supportive of her beau’s benevolent deeds and acts.

Naomi was incredibly flattered and plans to come back to Mumbai for more talks whenever she next has a break in her schedule.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Miley Cyrus plans to be back on the big screen, and soon. Hannah Montana? Not likely after her latest film.

So says the 16-year-old tween phenom, whose alter ego brings her secret double life as a pop star to theaters April 10 with Hannah Montana: The Movie.

The film reveals Hannah Montana's identity to the world in a way Cyrus says is "very clever" and diminishes the chances of a sequel — but doesn't dampen the future of the popular Disney TV show.

The film follows last year's sold-out Cyrus-Montana concert tour and her Best of Both Worlds Concert 3D movie, which grossed more than $60 million, a rare hit for a concert film.

"I don't know if I would do another (Hannah Montana) film, but I would love to do another season," said Cyrus, who's signed up for a third and says she's interested in a fourth. "That would be what we would all agree on."

Cyrus also seems to agree with the idea of a jump to Hollywood: She's planning to spend the summer working on a film written by Nights in Rodanthe and The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks. But this is no adaptation of a bestselling romantic novel — instead, Sparks went directly to the screenplay this time, and did so with Cyrus in mind for the part.

Other than the title, The Last Song, neither Sparks nor Cyrus are giving away any plot points. But Cyrus hints at a role that will put her acting chops to the test.

"I've always been lucky to play parts that relate to me, and this doesn't at all," she said. "I have my issues, but not as bad as this chick. So I'm happy to play someone that's just kind of out there and not someone that I'm like."

Like anyone else, Cyrus is waiting to see whether she's "a good actress or not, or if I'm just good at playing myself.

"So," she added, "We'll see how that goes."

Will that affect her status as a role model for young girls? Not any more than her feelings on the glamorous life she's chosen: Asked what kids should do if they're torn between pursuing an acting dream or going to college, Cyrus responds with her usual unfiltered candor.

"I say 'do it,'" she said, laughing as if she knew what kind of trouble she was causing for herself. "Be a freak. Go to Hollywood."

Bromance’ star Frankie Delgado has denied reports that he is dating R&B singer Rihanna. The TV star said he was not romantically involved with the singer, recently in news for being assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown.

Despite rumours circulating that the two are dating, Delgado said he and Rihanna were “just friends”, reported the People magazine online.

Delgado, who has starred in MTV’s The Hills and Bromance , said the rumour got started because “she’s been out, hanging out, I guess. It’s Hollywood, people talk a lot.”
