Movie News: ‘Ek - The Power of One’ is not even worth a single watch

What happens when you are made a scapegoat to watch a highly stereotypical nonsensical Hindi flick which doesn’t belong to any genre except for ‘trash’, you yawn, sleep over it or write a bad review? Well I would choose the latter.

‘Ek- The Power of One’ can be tagged as one of the most irrelevant flicks ever made in India. It boasts of having everything that one won’t want to see. Whether it is a stupid plot, mediocre performances, dull dialogues; this one has it all and believe us boring is an understatement when it comes to this flick.

It has a lead actor (read Bobby Deol) who it seems will never stop being wooden. He is so wooden is some scenes that perhaps the director would have had to pinch him to feel alive. Every time he comes onscreen you look at absolutely everything but him. The Deol scion refuses to show any expressions.

If this wasn’t all, Director Sangeeth Sivan does a futile attempt to make a flick which has nothing going for it. The story goes like this- Nandu (Bobby Deol), a professional assassin has been entrusted the task of shooting a politician from a construction tower (Innovative, right?). That follows a political conspiracy, Nandu flees from the cops and reaches Hoshiyarpur (Eureka!) where he’s mistaken to be the long-lost son of a very extended family. A typical village belle (Shriya Saran) is waiting for Bobby to sing rain songs in the village. Want more? The family patriarch (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) is ever ready to shed tears. There is song, dance, idiotic comedy and more.

This one also has a nasty village landlord, eying the ancestral land of Nandu’s grandfather. Nana Patekar plays a lecherous police officer investigating the murder of the politician whom Nandu had killed. Nana can be seen mouthing some of the most ridiculous dialogues of the century.

In short, ‘Ek’ has everything Hindi movies shouldn’t be made of!
