march,30,09Los Angeles: Superspy James Bond has beaten off competition from Indiana Jones, Superman and Harry Potter to be named Hollywood’s top hero in a new poll.
The sleek 007 British agent, who has been played on screen by Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig claimed the top position in the Entertainment Weekly ‘Top 20 Heroes Poll”.
Harison Ford’s character in adventure film “Indiana Jones” came second. Ford is the only star to land two characters in the top 10, which also features his “Star Wars” hero Han Solo.
Others, who made it to the top 10 list were “Alien” heroine Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, Robin Hood, Spider-Man and John McClane of “Die Hard.”
Meanwhile, the Wicked Witch of The West from “The Wizard of Oz” beat Darth Vader and cannibal Hannibal Lecter for top villain in a related poll.
